Are the uggs that dont have suede material fake or something..?

i got a pair of tall black uggs for christmas, but they aren;t the usuall suede material. they are from nordstroms so they are real, but the fur is like thinner on the inside & it was much harder for me to fold them then it is for me to fold my old tall brown ones.
