Does bringing out the contrast in a photo make it not print well?

I sharpened the contrast and brightness in most all my photos. Some I darkened and lightened highlights and some I did not. Will the pictures still be ok to print if given to a client on a DVD? Meaning the client will likely go to Walgreens or Walmart to order prints. Thanks.
