Why do Republicans want to stabilize the Iraqi government until it develops a democracy? It seems like irony.?

I partly agree, neither republicans nor democrats can create a genuine lasting democracy in Iraq. Americans [ many of whom don't travel much ], have difficulty understanding that democracy is not the only form of government, there are monarchies, dictatorships, tribalism, etc. Some countries are happy with their own system and don't want to be 'mini- Americas' !
