Is "Enter Sandman" representative of Metallica's work?

In 1991 when they released their self titeled album or "the black album," Enter Sandman was a prominat track. That was the first Metallica song I ever heard and have never looked back since. I would definately say that that is a reasonable statement that it would be worth researching them further. Think about it like this though. They were untouchable metal gods in the 80s and ok after black album. What I would stay away from is the stuff like St. Anger (2003) and Death Magnetic (2008) A lot of people liked Death Magnetic but I didn't. I have a huge Metallica collection and most of it was from the 80's and lots off the black album too. For me they fell apart musically after Load
