Does this boy like me?

OK my friend in coventry likes him but she says i should go out with him although i don't think i'll ask i want to see if he makes any more moves. He texts me and texed me like these questions and i sent it back to him and one of them was would you go out with me? and he put maybe :) is this a sign he might like me. He also always puts xo when we say bye now what he never used to do and he has started to compliment a few of my pictures on of them being i look amazing. Could he like me or is he just being a good friend cos we've known each other 10 years. Finally sometimes i catch him looking at me but not often.
